MasterCard PayPass®
What is PayPass?
MasterCard Paypass is a new "contactless" way to pay. It's like having exact change wherever you go. A simple tap of your card key fob, or mobile phone is all it takes to pay at checkout.* It's ideal when speed is essential, like at fast food restaurants, gas stations, pharmacies, and movie theaters
How Does it Work?
It's simple. No more swiping, giving your card to cashiers, searching for coins, or waiting for change. At the checkout:
- Tap your card on the "contactless" symbol
- Listen for a beep and look for the green lights indicating payment was accepted
- If your purchase is under $25, that is it — you're on your way. No need to sign or enter a pin
Where Can I Use PayPass?
Anywhere you see the MasterCard PayPass symbol at checkout, you can tap to pay with your PayPass. This includes fast food restaurants, gas stations, pharmacies, movie theaters and more.
If you don't see the symbol, your Paypass card can still be used by swiping at checkout, like normal MasterCard cards.
Is PayPass Safe?
With secure encryption technology and Zero Liability† protection, PayPass is as safe as your regular credit card.
Do I Already Have PayPass?
Your card may already be enabled — just look for the PayPass logo on the front or the back of your card — and you're ready.
How Can I Get It?
To apply for a MasterCard PayPass, contact your bank or ask for it — or — contact any of the growing number of participating financial institutions (card issuers) listed on our Web site. Check back often as new card issuers are added regularly.
